thighs

thumb wrapped around the handlebar

18.5.1 Standard versions
143BA020 KN
► with the right hand, pull the starter grip slowly
until you feel it engage – and then give it a
brisk strong pull – simultaneously press down
on the handlebar – do not pull the starter rope
out all the way – risk of breakage! Do not let
the starter grip snap back – guide it vertically
back into the housing so that the starter rope
can rewind properly
With a new engine or after a long period of dis‐
use, with machines without an additional manual
fuel pump, it may be necessary to pull the starter
rope several times – to prime the fuel line.
18.5.2 Versions with ErgoStart
WARNING
This machine is extremely simple and easy to
start, even for children – risk of accident!
Make absolutely certain that children or other
unauthorized persons cannot attempt to start the
machine:
–
never leave the machine unattended during
work breaks
–
secure storage after work
The ErgoStart stores the energy for starting the
chain saw. For this reason, a few seconds may
pass between the pulling of the starter rope and
the starting of the engine.
For versions with ErgoStart, there are two ways
to start the machine:
► pull the starter grip slowly and smoothly –
or –
with the right hand, pull the starter grip in sev‐
eral short pulls of the starter rope, pulling the
rope out only a little bit each time
► during starting, press down on the handlebar –
do not pull out the starter rope all the way –
risk of breakage!
► Do not let the starter grip snap back – guide it
vertically back into the housing so that the
starter rope can rewind properly
18.6 Starting the chain saw
WARNING
There must not be anyone within the swivel
range of the chain saw.
