17 Adjusting the Carburetor
17.1 Winter Operation
The carburetor may ice up when the saw is used at ambient
temperatures below 50 °F (10 °C). To prevent icing, the
shutter must be converted to allow warm air from around the
engine to heat the carburetor.
Shut off the engine, @ 15.1.
Engage the chain brake, @ 12.1.
Remove the filter cover (1).
Pull out the shutter (2).
Re-insert the shutter (2) as shown above.
Push the shutter (2) into the slots (3) until it stops.
The shutter (2) engages noticeably.
Mount the filter cover (1).
Place the shroud in position.
Tighten the shroud locks until you hear an audible click.
NOTICE
The winter operation setting should only be used in ambient
temperatures below 50 °F (10 °C). Use at higher
temperatures may cause the engine to overheat, resulting in
permanent damage. Always remember to return the shutter
to the configuration that is appropriate for ambient
temperature conditions.
17.2 Summer Operation

temperatures above 50 °F (10°C).
Shut off the engine, @ 15.1.
