6.1 Assembling lawn mower
Carry out assembly work on level, flat
and solid ground.
Check the scope of delivery
before assembly.
Fully charge the battery. (Ö 7.4)
Install the lower handlebars (D) –
observe the specified tightening
torque.
Position the upper handlebar onto the
lower handlebars at the required height
and hold. (Ö 8.4)
Install the upper handlebar and
insert the power cable into the
cable guide (J) as shown and
fasten to the handlebar using the
cable clips (K).
Assemble and attach the grass
catcher box. (Ö 8.2)
7.1 General
The lawn mower can must only be
operated with rechargeable STIHL type
AK lithium-ion batteries.
The batteries supplied are optimally
adapted to the intended purpose,
however, all STIHL AK type batteries can
be used.
7.2 Removing/inserting the
battery
Disconnect the safety plug
(Ö 8.1) and hold the battery
compartment cover in the
open position.
Removing the battery:
Push the locking lever (1) towards the
battery and remove the battery (2)
upwards.
Inserting the battery:
Insert the battery (2) to the stop in the
battery compartment applying slight
pressure – a clicking sound can be
heard.
7.3 Connecting charger to the
mains
Insert mains plug (1) in
socket (2).
After connection of the charger to the
power supply, a self-test is performed.
During this process, the LED (3) on the
charger illuminates green for approx.
1 second, then red, and then
extinguishes again (Ö 7.6).
7.4 Recharging the battery
The charging time depends on
various influencing factors such as
e.g. the temperature of the battery and the
ambient temperature. The actual charging
time may differ from the specified charging
time. Please refer to
www.stihl.com/charging-times for
charging times.

The cutting blades run on
after the motor has been
switched off. Remove the
locking device (safety plug)
before performing mainte-
nance work.
Switch on the motor.
6. Preparing the machine for
operation

Once the battery has been inserted
in the charger, charging starts
automatically. When the battery is
fully charged, the charger switches
off automatically.
The battery and the charger heat
up during charging.
