An integrated run-down brake shortens the
run-down time until the blade stops.
Measuring run-down time
Following motor start-up, the blade rotates
and a wind noise is audible. The run-down
time corresponds to the duration of the
wind noise after the motor stops. This can
be measured using a stopwatch.
11.1 Preparatory measures
Charge the battery and insert it into the
battery compartment. (Ö 7.4)
Insert the safety plug. (Ö 8.1)
11.2 Switching on lawn mower
1 Press and hold the ON button (1).
2 Pull the motorstop lever (2) to the
handlebar and hold.
The ON button (1) can be released
once the motorstop lever (2) is pulled.
11.3 Switching off lawn mower
Release motorstop lever (1).
Motor and mowing blade come to
a stop after a short run-down time.
11.4 Emptying the grass catcher
box
Detach the grass catcher box. (Ö 8.2)
Open the grass catcher box at the
tab (1). Fold up the upper part of the
grass catcher box (2) and hold. Fold the
grass catcher box rearwards and empty
the clippings.
Close the grass catcher box.
Attach the grass catcher box. (Ö 8.2)
12.1 General
Annual service by the specialist dealer:
The lawn mower should be inspected once
annually by a specialist dealer. STIHL
recommends STIHL specialist dealers.
12.2 Cleaning the machine
Maintenance interval:
After each use
Place the machine on horizontal and
level ground.
Remove and clean the battery
regularly. (Ö 7.2), (Ö 12.4)
Remove any foreign bodies from the
battery compartment and clean the
battery compartment with a damp cloth.
Clean the electric contacts in the
battery compartment with a paintbrush
or a soft brush.
Detach the grass catcher box and clean
it using running water and a brush well
away from the machine. (Ö 8.2)
To clean the underside of the machine,
tilt the lawn mower (1) onto its side.
Clean the machine using a little water
and a brush or with a cloth. Remove
accumulated clipping deposits using a
stick. If necessary, use a special
cleaner (e.g. STIHL special cleaner).
Never spray water or high pressure
cleaners onto batteries, switches, motor
components, seals or bearing points.
Remove dirt from the cooling slots to
ensure that the motor and machine
electronics are adequately cooled.
Top of machine: The air slots (2) are
located on both sides, between the
hood of the electric motor and the lower
housing.
Underside of machine: The air
slots (3) are located in the vicinity of the
discharge chute.
11. Operating the machine
Risk of injury!
Observe the safety instructions in
the section "For your safety". (Ö 4.)
Do not switch on the lawn mower in
tall grass. Select a higher cutting
height setting if the motor is difficult
to start.

The motor must be stopped for
safety reasons before removing the
grass catcher box.

Remove the safety plug,
particularly before
performing any work on the lawn
mower (Ö 8.1).
