18 During Operation
To activate ECO mode:
► Lift the battery compartment cover (1) and hold it.
► Set the ECO switch (2) to position I.
► Close the battery compartment cover.
To deactivate ECO mode:
► Lift the battery compartment cover and hold it.
► Set the ECO switch to position 0.
► Close the battery compartment cover.
18.3 Mowing and Mulching
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injuries to the operator
or bystanders, keep hands, feet and other parts of the body
away from the mowing blade, @ 5.7.2. Do not touch the
mowing blade while the fuse key and battery are inserted.
Never touch the moving mowing blade with your hand or any
part of your body, @ 5.7.4.
WARNING
Always wear proper clothing and protective apparel,
including proper eye protection, when operating your lawn
mower, @ 5.5. Keep bystanders at least 50 ft. (15 m) away
from the work area, @ 5.7.4. Work carefully and maintain
proper control of the lawn mower, @ 5.7.2.
► If using the drive system, drive the lawn mower forward in
a controlled manner, keeping two hands on the unit at all
times.
► If not using the drive system, push the lawn mover forward
slowly, keeping two hands on the unit at all times.
Observe all applicable laws, regulations, standards and
ordinances.
Mulching
In the mulching mode, the grass clippings are recirculated in
the air-stream, re-cut several times into small particles and
then blown back onto the lawn. The fine particles remain on
the lawn surface where they decompose quickly and serve
as a natural fertilizer. Frequent mulching contributes to a
beautiful, dense lawn. One third of the grass height should
be cut in this process.
For effective mulching, STIHL recommends the following
