13 Checking the Lawn Mower and Battery
► Move lever to , and then to .
► If the lever moves too freely: Do not use your mower and
contact your STIHL servicing dealer for assistance.
The lever is defective.
Switching on the mower
► Insert the activation key.
► Fit the battery.
► Depress the lockout button with your right hand and hold
it there.
► Pull the switch lever for blade drive fully in direction of the
handle with your left hand and hold it so that your thumb
is wrapped around the handle.
The blade rotates.
► If 3 LEDs flash red: Remove the activation key and
battery, and contact your STIHL servicing dealer for
assistance.
There is a malfunction in the mower.
► Release lockout button and switch lever for blade drive.
The blade stops rotating after a brief delay.
► If the blade continues to rotate: Remove the activation key
and battery, and contact your STIHL servicing dealer for
assistance.
There is a malfunction in the mower.
Switching on wheel drive
► Insert the activation key.
► Fit the battery.
► Pull the switch lever for wheel drive fully in direction of the
handle and hold it so that your thumb is wrapped around
the handle.
The mower begins to move forwards.
► Release the switch lever for wheel drive.
The mower comes to a standstill.
► If the mower does not stop: Remove the battery and
contact your STIHL dealer for assistance.
There is a malfunction in the mower.
13.2 Checking the Blade
► Switch off the mower, remove the activation key and
battery.
► Stand the mower on end.
► Measure the following:
– Thickness ‘a’
– Width ‘b’
– Sharpening angle ‘c’
► If the minimum thickness and minimum width are outside
the specified limits: Replace the blade, @ 22.2.
► If the filing angle is not correct: Sharpen the blade,
@ 22.2.
► If you have any queries: Contact a STIHL servicing dealer
for assistance.
13.3 Testing the Battery
► Press button on battery.
The LEDs glow or flash.
► If the LEDs do not glow or flash: Do not use the battery
and contact your STIHL servicing dealer.
There is a malfunction in the battery.
