Estimates
ObjetStudioenablesyoutocalculatethetimeandmaterialresources
neededforproducingtraysbeforesendingthemtotheAlarisprinter.The
timeittakesObjetStudiotomakethiscalculationdependsonthenumber
ofobjectsonthetrayandtheircomplexity.Calculatingtheproduction
estimateforafulltraycouldtakeupto15minu
tes,dependingonyour
computersspecifications.Theresultsdisplayedareaccuratewithin10
percentoftheactualresourcesneeded.
To calculate the time and materials needed for producing the current
tray:

FromtheToolsmenu,selectEstimate Consumptions.
or—
¾ Click .
WhenObjetStudiofinishescalculatingtheproductionresources,the
resultsaredisplayedatthebottomofthescreen.

Saving the
Tray File
Traysaresavedasobjtffiles.Youcansaveatraybeforeitisreadyfor
production,andopenitatanothertimetocontinuepreparingit.Whenyou
sendthetraytotheAlarisprinter,itisfirstsaved.Ifthetraywaspreviously
saved,itsobjtffileisoverwrittenatthistime.
To save the tray file:

FromtheFilemenu,selectSave TrayorSave Tray As.

Printing the
Tray File
Whenatrayisreadytobeprinted,itissenttoJobManager,whereitis
placedintheprintqueue.Whenthejobreachestheheadofthequeue,Job
Managerpreprocessesthetrayfiletocreateslices, andfeedsthemtothe
3Dprinter.
To send the tray to the print queue:

FromtheFilemenu,selectBuild Tray.
or—
¾ Click .
Ifthebuildtrayfilehasnotbeensaved,theSaveAsdialogboxopensfor
youtosaveitnow.
ObjetStudiochecksifthereisaproblemwiththepositioningofobjects
onthetray.Ifso,theaffectedobjectsaredisplayedwithspecialcolors
(seefigure530onpage
523),andthefollowingwarningmessage
appears.
