Intended Use The Strongway Single-Drum Forklift Gripper allows you to pick up 55-gallon steel drums without leaving the fork truck. Simply slip the forks into the fork tubes and the lower gripping system around the drum. The system grips the drum, allowing it to be lifted into the air. The drum is released by lowering the forks. Place the unit on floor or a flat surface that is easily accessible to the fork truck. Be sure that the “T” bolts are sufficiently unthreaded to allow the forks to enter the pockets. 2. Carefully slide the forks into the gripper’s fork pockets. Be sure the forks are in the pockets as far as possible. 3.
6. When the jaws surround the drum, raise the forks until the jaws rest under the upper rolling rib. The drum can now be raised and moved where desired (Figure 3). Figure 3 7. To release the drums, return to the floor, lowering the gripper slowly as you pull back. Note: Follow the same procedure with the two drums at the same time. For easier pick-up, the drums should touch each other. Be sure that the drum weights are similar to insure a balanced load.
