Removing the Hardware
The following procedures describe how to remove the HBA. Refer to your system
installation or service manual for detailed HBA removal instructions.
The hardware removal process involves the following general steps:

or preparing the HBA for hot-plug removal with one of the following:
■ The HBA Attention button
■ The Solaris OS
2. Removing the HBA hardware.
▼ To Prepare the HBA for Removal Using the HBA
Attention Button
1. Attach an antistatic strap (refer to “Observing ESD and Handling Precautions”
on page 9).
2. Press and release the Attention button near the bottom of the HBA front panel
(see
FIGURE 2-3).
The green Attention LED near the button will blink for approximately five
seconds, indicating that the HBA is being prepared for removal.
If you want to cancel the operation, press the Attention button again before the
LED stops blinking.
3. After the Attention LED goes dark, remove the HBA.
▼ To Prepare the HBA for Hot-Plug Removal (for

If you want to remove the HBA without first halting the operating system and
removing power from the associated server blade, prepare it for removal as follows:
