User's Manual

240V WIRING - VERY IMPORTANT! All digital ballasts may malfunction if the 240V circuit
has a neutral. The input for the ballast is 2 HOT WIRES and 1 GROUND WIRE. If you are using a
light controller ONLY bring a ground wire and two hot leads from your electrical panels.
HOT RESTRIKE - It is VERY IMPORTANT that the lamp is given adequate time to cool
down before it is reignited. You should allow a hot lamp to cool for 20-30 minutes before you
try to restrike it. Hot restrikes cause permanent lamp failure and lumen output degradation.
Additionally, the lamp should never be turned off before the lamp reaches full intensity.
LAMP REPLACEMENT - Be sure to disconnect the power source before changing
lamps. Always use the specified wattage lamp. (A 400W halide lamp should not be used in
a 600W ballast).
MOUNTING LOCATION - DO NOT install ballasts in areas of high heat, such as an attic
or a closed closet. DO NOT mount the ballast to the reflector or blow exhaust air over
them. DO NOT stack ballasts on top of each other. DO NOT allow contact with water.
Mount units at least six inches apart. If a unit has any leaking resin, please relocate to a
cooler area or place a fan near the ballasts.
RUBBER FOOTINGS - Please install the included rubber footings to the four corners of
the mounting bracket. This will allow proper spacing for the ballast.
TIMER BOX - If you are connecting a 240V ballast to a timer box, please make sure that
it cuts off both legs when timer is switched off. If you continue to supply 120V to your bal-
last when the timer is switched off, it may damage your ballast.
HPS/MH - The ballasts operate both metal halide and high pressure sodium lamps. They
will not light mercury vapor lamps. PLEASE NOTE: The 750W ballast is HPS only.
LAMP RECOMMENDATIONS - The ballasts are designed to provide superior
performance with several lamps manufactured to American specifications. There are
several brands of lamps available for the U.S. market that were made according to European
specifications. We do not recommend using these types of lamps, since they will provide
inconsistent performance with your ballast.
The display will also flash both the set wattage and light-
ing cycle that is currently programmed.
To set the ballast to your preferred lighting cycle press and
hold the PRG button for three seconds until the screen
starts flashing. Once the screen is flashing press the PRG
button repeatedly to toggle through the lighting cycles until
yound the schedule you are looking for. Once you find the
desired lighting cycle press the WATTS button to select it.
Please note: The cycle is going to start at the time you selected it. If you want the cycle to
start at a specific time the remote control is required
(sold separately).
USING LIGHTING CONTROLLERS
When using an external lighting timer, such as a Titan Controls Helios controller, you should not
use the pre-programmed light cycles. Therefore the “PRG” light should not be illuminated.
ERROR CODES
If the ballast encounters any
abnormal conditions the built
in self-diagnostic feature will
display an easily identifiable
error code. Error codes include over or under voltage, overheating, and open or short circuits.
BALLAST LIFE TIMER
Your Digital Logic ballast has a built in “Odometer” that will display the number of hours your
ballast has been in use. You can display the ballast odometer by pressing down both the PRG
and Watts button down together for 3 seconds.
CYCLE MEMORY BACKUP
In the event of a power outage or disruption both the timer and cycle function will be
saved by a battery backup for up to 6 hours. If the power is disrupted the ballast will resume
its normal schedule and cycle once power is restored.

SETTING THE WATTAGE
To toggle between the wattage settings press the
wattage button repeatedly until the display reads the
wattage you would like to run.
To put the ballast in the “off” setting hold the wattage
button for 3 seconds.
Caution: Do not run a lower wattage lamp on a higher lamps setting.
SETTING THE LIGHT CYCLE
The Galaxy Digital Logic
also can be preset to
7 lighting cycle settings:
You can check if you have a current lighting cycle chosen
by a short press of the PRG button. If no programs are set
it will read “—“. When a program cycle has been set the

POSSIBLE CAUSES CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
LAMP LOOSE
IN SOCKET
Screw lamp firmly into socket. Make sure tab inside the socket makes proper contact
with the base of the lamp. If lamp will not seat properly replace lamp.
INCORRECT
VOLTAGE
Make sure you are using the correct input voltage with ballast. If using incorrect
voltage, disconnect the ballast from the power source immediately.
DEFECTIVE OR
IMPROPER WIRING
Examine wiring to ensure it agrees with wiring diagrams on ballast label. Check
connections to see that they are secure. If wiring a 240V ballast,
DO NOT use a neutral. The correct wiring is two hot wires and a ground.
POOR ELECTRICAL
CONNECTIONS
Check wiring and lamp contact with socket. Make sure the lamp cord is firmly seated
in output receptacle.
INCORRECT
LAMP
Verify that you are using the proper wattage lamp with ballast.
DO NOT use a lamp manufactured according to European or Asian specifications as
they will not provide consistent performance.
LAMP
DAMAGE
Investigate possibility of outer bulb damage, particularly where glass
meets base. Lamps may have been twisted to firmly into socket.
Look for broken tubes or loose metal parts. Replace lamp.
BREAKER
If lamp will not start, reset the breaker by pressing the white button located on the
input side of the ballast.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Follow the troubleshooting tips below. If troubleshooting techniques fail, bring ballast back
to your place of purchase to request warranty service.

OPTIONAL REMOTE
The Digital Logic includes a unique timer and feature when operated by remote.
The feature allows the user to set the light cycle to start at a specific time by
programming the remote instead of the ballast. Once the remote is programmed
any Digital Logic ballast you own can be programmed accordingly by a single
press of a button.
