Hardware Overview Battery and NTC Thermistor Terminal System LED PV Panel Terminal Reset Button Power Terminal Ethernet Ports PV Panel Terminal Output LED Note: NTC Thermistor must be connected in order for the battery to charge. Interface System LED Reset Button Description Steady on when system is powered on; Red when battery polarity is reversed. Press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds to restore factory default settings.
Hardware Installation Note: Prior to use, it is recommended to write down the factory default password for this device. The password can be found on the sticker located under the SolarPoint cover. Pole Mounting 1. Open the Metal Strap and feed it through the mounting slots on the back of the SolarPoint. 2. Wrap the Metal Strap around the pole. Use a 7 mm socket wrench to turn the screw clockwise and securely fasten the strap to the pole.
Wall Mounting 1. Attach the two wall mount brackets to the back of the SolarPoint. 2. Install the wall mount level securely to the wall.
3. Align the wall mount brackets over the wall mount level and slide it down until it is secure.
Electrical Connections 1. Press down and slide the port cover forward. 2. Lift the port cover up.
3. Remove the four-pin connector from the battery terminal block. 4. Crimp a ferrule on one end of the wire. 5. Insert the crimped wire into the appropriate slot on the four-pin connector. Using a flathead screwdriver, secure the wire to the connector by tightening the screw until it stops.
6. Repeat steps four and five until the connector is fully occupied with all four wires. 7. Connect wires and NTC Thermistor to batteries. Note: The battery will not be charged without connecting the NTC Thermistor. 24VDC NTC Thermistor NTC Thermistor Note: Use SLA, AGM or Gel Lead batteries.
8. Attach the NTC Thermistor and battery cable using the four-pin connector. 9. Attach the PV panel cables.
Connecting Ethernet 1. Connect Ethernet cable(s) to the Ethernet port(s). Note: PoE is disabled by default and can be enabled using the configuration interface. 2. When you are finished, close the port cover.
Configuration Connect to your LAN via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. Ethernet If connected to the LAN via Ethernet, the SolarPoint will attempt to obtain an IP address automatically from a DHCP server. Use the Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool to determine its IP address. If there is no DHCP server on the LAN, the SolarPoint will fall back to the following IP address: 192.168.1.
4. Click Set Device Location to set the location for your solar system installation. 5. Click Power on the Settings screen and fill out the battery and solar panel information. Enabling PoE To enable PoE on the SolarPoint: 1. Click Output on the Settings screen. 2. Click the toggle button from OFF to ON, for each port you want to enable.
