4. In both screens you can change parameters by using the arrow keys to move to a
field and using the +/- keys to change the parameter.
5. When finished, use the E
SC key to exit the menu.
Running a Consistency Check
Use the Consistency Check command to verify that the data is synchronized on the
mirrored disks in the volume.
Follow these steps to run a consistency check on a selected mirrored volume:
1. In the A
DAPTER LIST screen (see Figure 7-1), use the arrow keys to select a SAS
adapter.
The A
DAPTER PROPERTIES screen appears (see Figure 7-2).
2. Use the arrow keys to select RAID PROPERTIES, and then press ENTER.
The SELECT NEW VOLUME TYPE screen appears (see Figure 7-3).
3. Select VIEW EXISTING VOLUME.
The VIEW VOLUME screen appears (see Figure 7-8). If necessary, press Alt + N to
switch to another volume on this adapter.
4. S
ELECT MANAGE VOLUME.
The MANAGE VOLUME screen appears (see Figure 7-12).
5. Select CONSISTENCY CHECK in the MANAGE VOLUME screen.
A menu screen appears.
6. Press Y to start the consistency check.
The consistency check runs a read-read-compare algorithm in the background. If it
encounters any data miscompares, it stores the information in a bad block table.
Activating a Volume
A volume can become inactive if, for example, you remove it from one controller or
computer and install it on a different one. The Activate Volume option allows you to
reactivate an inactive volume. This option is available only when the selected volume is
currently inactive.
Follow these steps to activate a selected volume:
1. In the A
DAPTER LIST screen (see Figure 7-1), use the arrow keys to select a SAS
adapter and press E
NTER.
The ADAPTER PROPERTIES screen appears (seeFigure 7-2 ).
2. Select RAID PROPERTIES, and then press ENTER.
The SELECT NEW VOLUME TYPE screen appears (see Figure 7-3).
3. Select VIEW EXISTING VOLUME.
