Mounting the PIR Alarm Unit
Mounting
To mount the PIR alarm unit, you’ll need the following tools:
A screwdriver•
A drill (for hardwood or masonry)•
The alarm unit should be mounted between 5ft/1.8m and 7ft/2.6m high, and be
angled a few degrees towards the ground (see the coverage diagram, below). Of
course, your situation is unique, and you may need to alter the height and angle
of the sensor to meet your particular needs (such as looking up a flight of stairs).
To mount the alarm unit:
First, attach the mounting bracket to a wall or ceiling, using the supplied screws. 1.
If mounting on hardwood, you may need to drill guide holes. If mounting onto
masonry (brick, concrete and so on) you’ll need a drill with a masonry drill bit,
and use the wall plugs included with the alarm unit.
Then, simply insert the locking tabs on the mounting bracket into the grooves 2.
on the back of the sensor. Move the alarm unit down to lock it into place.
Angle the PIR sensor aiming slightly downwards (see the Detection Area 3.
diagram on page 5 for more information).
