Preparations for Connection and Installation
The device must be voltage-free during installation and connection.
Turn the power off and ensure that none of the poles are carrying a current by remov-
ing the electric circuit's fuse, or switching off at the circuit breaker. Secure it against
unauthorised reconnection, e.g., with a danger sign. In addition, switch off the
appropriate earth-leakage circuit breaker.
Check that the mains cable is free of current e.g. with an appropriate tester.
The speed controller warms up when it is operated because a small portion of the
connected load is converted to heat depending on the functional use of the control-
ler. The nominal power of the speed controller indicated in the section “Technical
Data” is intended for the installation in a massive stone or concrete wall.
If you want to install the speed controller in a lightweight wall (e.g. gypsum plas-
terboard with wooden substructure), wood, lightweight building blocks (aerated
concrete) or in a surface-mounted housing, the maximum connected load must be
reduced by at least 20%.
This reduction is also necessary if you install several speed controllers close to one
another or if other heat sources are in close proximity to the speed controller.
Please note the following chart which shows the reduction of the connected load
(see also section “Technical Data”) indicated on the speed controller with regard to
the ambient temperature:
