Set up your protected network Get the Norton Core app Download Norton Core app on Android 1 On your Android device, do one of the following: ■ Tap here to be redirected to the Norton Core page in Play Store. ■ Launch the Play Store app, search for Norton Core, and then select the Norton Core app from the search results. 2 Once you have located the app page in the Play Store, tap Install, and then tap Accept to install the app.
Set up your protected network Access your Norton account ■ Launch the App Store app, search for Norton Core. 2 Once you have located the app page in the App Store, tap Get, and then tap Install. 3 When the installation completes, tap Open to check if you can launch the app and see the Welcome to Norton Core screen. Your Norton Core app is ready and you can proceed to set up your secure wireless network. Access your Norton account You need a valid Norton account to use Norton Core.
Set up your protected network Access your Norton account Note: You cannot have two Norton Core routers linked to the same Norton account. You can activate only one Norton Core to your Norton account. If you have more than one Norton Core, you need to activate the other Norton Core with another Norton account. Create a Norton account 1 Go to the link below: https://login.norton.com 2 Tap Create an Account. 3 In the Email address box, type your email address.
Set up your protected network Set up your secure network Set up your secure network IMPORTANT: Ensure that your mobile device meets all these requirements: ■ Runs on iOS (9.0 or higher) or Android (4.4 or higher) operating system ■ Has Bluetooth Smart (BLE) support ■ Has mobile data plan (for internet connection) If yes, you can proceed to download the Norton Core app.
Set up your protected network Set up your secure network 4 Launch the Norton Core app. 5 Tap Set Up Norton Core. 6 Read the license agreement, and tap Agree & Launch. 7 Tap Next. 8 In the Select your current wireless set up screen, select your current broadband set up. 9 ■ If you have separate modem and router devices, select this icon: ■ If you have modem and router combined to a single device, select this icon: Tap Next.
Set up your protected network Set up your secure network 11 Wait for a few minutes as Norton Core performs a sequence of configuration tasks that include establishing and securing a connection, and installing the latest updates. 12 Tap Next on the prompt to sign in to your Norton account.
Set up your protected network Set up your secure network 13 Provide your Norton account email address and password, and tap Sign In. 14 Tap Next after your Norton Core is linked to your Norton account and activated.

Set up your protected network Set up your Norton Core with PPPoE connection 16 Tap Create. Norton Core creates your secure wireless network and displays the Congratulations screen. 17 Tap Next. You have successfully set up your protected network. Norton Core displays your Norton Core Security Plus subscription1 details and then the home screen. The Norton Core router light changes to solid white. You are ready to add all of your household devices to your new secure network.

Set up your protected network Set up your Norton Core with PPPoE connection ■ 9 If you have modem and router combined to a single device, select this icon: Tap Next. 10 Follow the on-screen instructions to physically connect Norton Core router with your current modem or modem and router combo device, and power them on. Note: You should wait for about one minute after you power on the modem/modem and router combo device and Norton Core router.

Set up your protected network Set up your Norton Core with PPPoE connection 13 In the Alternate connection screen, enter the last six digits of the serial number of your Norton Core router. You can find the serial number printed underneath the device. 14 Tap Next.
Set up your protected network Set up your Norton Core with PPPoE connection 15 In the PPPoE screen, enter the username and password provided by your internet service provider. 16 Tap Next. 17 Wait for a few minutes as Norton Core performs a sequence of configuration tasks that include securing the internet connection and installing the latest firmware updates.

Set up your protected network Add devices to your Norton Core secure network 22 Tap Create. Norton Core creates your secure wireless network and displays the Congratulations screen. 23 Tap Next. You have successfully set up your protected network. Norton Core displays your Norton Core Security Plus subscription1 details and then the home screen. The Norton Core router light changes to solid white. You are ready to add all of your household devices to your new secure network.
Set up your protected network Add a USB printer to your Norton Core network Add your wireless devices to your secure network 1 For each smartphone, tablet, printer, or other smart device that you want to add, go to the individual device settings and turn on WiFi. Do not forget IoT devices like smart TVs, alarm systems, thermostats, or lights. To add a USB printer, See “Add a USB printer to your Norton Core network” on page 28.
Set up your protected network Add a USB printer to your Norton Core network 1 On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Devices and Printers. 2 Click Add a Printer. 3 In the Add Printer wizard, select Add a local printer. 4 Under Choose a printer port, select Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port from the Type of port drop-down list. 5 Click Next. 6 In the Hostname or IP address box, type the IP address of the Norton Core gateway.
Set up your protected network Norton Core parental controls3 6 In the Name box, you can type a name for your printer to change it from the number of the IP address. 7 In the Protocol drop-down list, select HP Jetdirect Socket. 8 In the Use drop-down list, select your printer brand and model. If you do not see your printer in the Use drop-down list, click Software Settings, then choose your printer from the list. 9 Click Add. 10 Exit the Printer & Scanner window.
Set up your protected network Set up Norton Core parental controls3 5 Enter your child's name and add a profile picture. You can add a photo from the photo gallery or use the phone's camera and take a picture. 6 Tap Next. 7 In the Select a filter Level screen, tap the age group of your child and tap Next. Default blocked website categories are shown for the age group. Tap on any category to block or unblock it as required for the child.

Customize your Norton Core settings Change Norton Core network band settings 3 Tap Settings > Wireless. 4 In the Password field, tap the current password and type a password of your choice. Ensure that the password meets the following requirements: ■ Contains 8 to 63 alphanumeric characters. ■ Contains both upper and lower case letters. ■ Contains at least one numeric value (0-9). ■ Contains at least one special character (!$%^&*()_+|~-=\`{}[]:";'<>?,/). 5 Tap Show and note down the password.
Customize your Norton Core settings Create your Norton Core guest network ■ Under Channel, select your broadcast channel. Note: If you do not want to broadcast your wireless network, slide the Broadcast option to off. ■ Verify the wireless network settings and tap Save. Create your Norton Core guest network Norton Core lets you create a separate wireless network for your guests. Devices connected to the guest network cannot access devices on your private network.
Customize your Norton Core settings Enable or disable Norton Core UPnP 8 On the top-right corner, tap Save. 9 To share your guest network name and password using text message or email, tap Share Guest Network. Enable or disable Norton Core UPnP Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) is a network protocol that lets devices on your network automatically set up port forwarding rules for the connections that they need.
Customize your Norton Core settings Add or update Norton Core port forwarding settings Once you specify the port numbers, Norton Core router forwards the network traffic on the specific port to a specific device. Norton Core blocks the inactive ports on the device thereby providing protection against attacks through hacking techniques such as port scanning.
Customize your Norton Core settings Change Norton Core DNS settings Delete a port forwarding setting 1 Launch the Norton Core app. 2 On the top-left corner, tap the menu icon. 3 Tap Settings > Port Forwarding. 4 In the Port Forwarding screen, slide the port forward entry to the left and tap Remove. Change Norton Core DNS settings Norton Core uses the Norton Domain Name System (DNS) service to provide content filtering policies.
Customize your Norton Core settings Set the Norton Core light brightness and understand light states If you choose Neustar Advantage DNS, Norton Core uses the IP addresses 156.154.70.1 and 156.154.71.1 as your DNS servers and performs all DNS lookups using Advantage DNS. 5 On the top-right corner, tap Save. The Norton Core router will restart for the DNS changes to take effect. Note: *Symantec does not endorse Neustar Advantage, Google DNS or any other DNS web protection solution in the market.
Customize your Norton Core settings Change Norton Core time zone settings ■ Off Change Norton Core time zone settings If the default Norton Core time zone is not your current time zone, you can change the setting using the Norton Core app. The region where you initially set up Norton Core becomes the default time zone until you change the setting. Change router time zone 1 Launch the Norton Core app. 2 On the top-left corner, tap the menu icon. 3 Tap Settings > Router > Router Time Zone.

Additional solutions Norton Core software and firmware updates Perform a factory reset from Norton Core app 1 Launch the Norton Core app. 2 On the top-left corner, tap the menu icon. 3 Tap Settings > Router > Reset. 4 In the Reset screen, select Factory Reset. 5 Read the on-screen instructions and tap Reset. 6 In the confirmation screen, tap Confirm. The light under the Norton Core router blinks rapidly indicating the reset.
Additional solutions Reset Norton Core to factory settings If you perform a factory reset, you have to set up Norton Core from scratch. This includes, linking Norton Core with your Norton account, setting up your wireless network, and adding all users and devices to your protected network. Factory reset Norton Core 1 Launch the Norton Core app. 2 On the top-left corner, tap the menu icon. 3 Tap Settings > Router > Reset.
Additional solutions Restart your Norton Core router Factory reset using the reset button 1 Make sure that the Norton Core router is plugged in and has power. 2 Locate the reset button underneath your Norton Core router. The reset button is the left-most button marked with a rounded arrow. 3 Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds and then release it. Note: If you choose to reset using the reset button, Norton Core does not erase your personal data on the cloud.
Additional solutions Submit Norton Core error logs to Symantec ■ Block or allow internet access ■ Administer parental controls3 ■ Install Norton Security software Managed devices are typically desktops, laptops, mobile phones, and tablets. You cannot manage the smart (IoT) devices in your home that are connected to your Norton Core network. The Managed option for these devices appear disabled in the device details screen.
