Communications
Introduction
The CRD 2700 Cradle serves as an essential data communications device, enabling you to
synchronize the information on your PPT 2700 terminal and the ActiveSync® software on
your desktop computer. With customized or third party software, it can also be used to
synchronize your PPT 2700 terminal with corporate databases and other host computers.
Setting up the CRD 2700 cradle involves installing the ActiveSync software to enable
synchronization, and connecting your cradle to your computer.
Installing ActiveSync Software
Using ActiveSync technology, you can synchronize the information on your PPT 2700
terminal with the information on your computer. Changes you make on your terminal or
desktop computer appear in both places after you synchronize.
With ActiveSync software you can:
Work with your terminal applications on your computer. ActiveSync duplicates
applications on your PPT 2700 terminal (such as Calendar and Contacts) so you can
view, enter and modify any data stored on your PPT 2700 terminal.
Back up the data stored on your PPT 2700 terminal. Synchronization is a one-step
procedure that ensures your data is always safe and up-to-date.
Copy (rather than synchronize) files between your terminal and computer.
Control when synchronization occurs by selecting a synchronization mode, e.g., you
may synchronize continually while the terminal is in the cradle, or only when you
select the synchronize command.
