HANDLING AND SAFETY
Uninstalled grp soakers / roof units are fragile and vulnerable to damage, accordingly they
should be handled with great care. Upon receipt close inspection should be made and any
defects reported within 48 Hours. No claim will be accepted thereafter.
Glass Fibre splinters are an irritant. Gloves should be worn when handling GRP goods. If eye
contamination occurs, seek medical assistance. Correctly handled Systemair Ltd GRP products
represent no health hazard, however should cutting, abrading or drilling be required, gloves,
eye, and respiratory protection MUST
be worn.
All GRP soakers / roof units are classified as 'fragile roofing component', provide no form of
structural support and should be marked and treated accordingly. Under no circumstances
should soakers be walked upon. All openings, surrounding structure, plant & equipment must
be independently supported in accordance with local building regulations.
MAINTENANCE
Systemair GRP soakers / roof units require no maintenance. Should cleaning be desired, this
should be carried out using a mild detergent. Abrasives or solvents should not be used. Slight
fading of pigment may occur due to the effect of ultra violet rays during service; this will not
affect performance of the products. Under normal conditions a life expectancy in excess of 25
years is advised.
INSTALLATION
Systemair Soakers / Roof units are fragile and should be installed with great care. Particular
attention should be given to avoid twisting, bending, or dropping the products. Systemair Ltd
recommend Soaker fastening should be carried out using self drilling/tapping screws of
suitable material fitted with minimum 19mm twinseal "deckfast" washers. All side and endlaps
should be fitted with B27 foam sidelap or similar suitable sealant. Soakers should be
undertucked beneath the covering sheet or ridge by minimum 200 mm. Profile fillers should be
used at ridge/eaves situations. Installation should only be carried out by suitably qualified and
capable personnel. Systemair roof units should not be fitted to roofs in excess of 30 degree
pitch. Cowl bolts fitted to roof terminals should be checked for tension after installation should
loosening have occurred during transit. Systemair accepts no liability or responsibility for claims
resulting from product failure as a result of loosened fasteners or incorrect reassembly of units.
Completed installations should be clearly identified and treated as “Fragile Roof”
IMPORTANT NOTES
