2. Align th e ligh tpipe (5) so th at its straigh t tab is over th e slot for th e
illum in ated poin ter. Push th e tab down in to th e slot so th at it is securely
seated.
3. Place th e secure lever (4) on th e frequen cy con trol sh aft, align in g it so th at
its poin ter is at th e fron t of th e radio an d its two in n er slots lin e up with
th e two keys on th e sh aft. Slide th e secure lever down to th e bottom of th e
sh aft.
4. If you are replacin g th e escutch eon (2), rem ove th e backin g paper from
th e escutch eon , align its align m en t m arker with th e align m en t n otch
(between n um bers 4 an d 5) on th e in sert, an d adh ere it to th e in sert.
5. Place th e frequen cy in sert (3) an d escutch eon (2) on th e frequen cy con trol
sh aft, align in g th e in sert’s D-sh aped h ole with th e D-sh aped sh aft. Press
down ward firm ly on th e in sert un til it “sn aps” in place on th e sh aft.
6. Place th e frequen cy kn ob (1) on th e frequen cy in sert (3), align in g it’s
poin ter with th e n um ber “1” on th e escutch eon (2). Press firm ly
down ward on th e kn ob un til it seats securely in place.

Partial Exploded View Parts List. Num bers in paren th eses ( ) refer to
item n um bers in Figure 8 an d Table 12.
• Th e battery (7) sh ould be rem oved from th e radio before in stallin g
or rem ovin g th e volum e kn ob (8).
Removing the
Volume Knob
1. Hold th e radio in on e h an d so th at th e top of th e radio faces upward, an d
th e fron t of th e radio faces you.
2. With th e oth er h an d, grasp th e volum e kn ob (8) an d pull it upward, wh ile
push in g it toward th e back of th e radio, un til it is free from th e volum e
in sert (9).
3. Wh ile pressin g th e volum e in sert’s (9) two sn ap tabs away from th e
volum e con trol sh aft so th at th e in sert disen gages from th e sh aft, use
n eedle-n osed pliers to pull th e in sert up an d off of th e volum e con trol
sh aft.
4. Usin g n eedle-n osed pliers or som e oth er poin ted in strum en t, rem ove th e
o-rin g (21).
Installing the
Volume Knob
1. Place th e o-rin g (21) in side th e volum e in sert (9), an d press it down ward
un til it seats securely at th e bottom of th e in sert.
2. Hold th e radio so th at th e top of th e radio faces upward, an d th e fron t of
th e radio faces you.
3. Place th e volum e in sert (9) on th e volum e con trol sh aft, align in g its D-
sh aped h ole with th e D-sh aped sh aft. Press down ward firm ly on th e in sert
un til it “sn aps” in place on th e sh aft.
4. Place th e volum e kn ob (8) on th e volum e in sert (9), align in g th e two lugs
on th e in side of th e kn ob with th e in sert’s two sn ap tabs. Press firm ly
down ward on th e kn ob un til it seats securely in place.
