Leaving the Battery on Charge
Abattery/radiocanbeleftinthechargeroncechargingiscomplete.Leavingabatteryinthechargerwillnotover-
chargeordamageit.
Abattery/radiocanberemovedfromthechargeratanytimewithoutharmingthebattery,theradio,orthecharger.
Whenthebattery/radioisreturnedtothecharger,chargingisautomaticallyresumed.
Vehicle chargers only
Itissafetoswitchofftheignitionwhilethereisstillabatteryinthecharger.Butifthevehiclewillnotbeusedagainfor
sometime,checkwhetherchargingwillcontinuewhiletheignitionisoff,andconsiderwhateffectthismighthaveon
thevehiclebattery.
Tocheck,placethebatteryinthechargerandswitchoffthevehicleignition:
•IfnochargerLEDstayslit,thechargerwillresumechargingonlywhentheignitionisswitchedonagain.
Minimalchargerstandbypowerwillbedrawnfromthevehiclebatteryuntilthen.
•IfachargerLEDstayslit,thechargerwillcontinuetochargetheradiobatteryevenwhiletheignitionisoff,and
willcontinuetodrawpowerfromthevehiclebattery.Oncethebatteryischarged,thechargerdrawsminimal
currentandhaslittleeffectonahealthyvehiclebattery.
Receiving Calls while Charging
Doesnotapplytobattery-onlyvehiclechargers
Notice Forbestchargingperformance,switchofftheradiobeforeplacingitinthecharger.
Callscanbereceivedwhiletheradioisinthecharger,butradioperformancemaybedegraded.Iftheradioisremoved
fromthechargertoansweracall,thecallwillnotbedisrupted.
Removingtheradiofromthechargertomakeorreceiveacallendsthechargingprocess.Chargingsafelyrecom-
menceswhentheradioisreinsertedintothecharger.
Ifaradiowasturnedonwhilebeingcharged,thebatteryindicatormaynotbeaccuratewhentheradioisinitially
removedfromthecharger.Afterafewseconds,thebatteryindicatorisupdatedtodisplaytheamountofchargeavail-
ableinthebattery
Low Battery Warning
Notice Donotallowaradiobatterytofullydischargeeverytimeitisused,ortheservicelifeofthebat-
terywillbeshortened.
Whenthebatteryislow,theradioprovideswarningsinthefollowingways:
•Thebatterysymbolontheradiodisplaylooksempty.
•ThestatusLEDontheradioslowlyflashesred.
•Ahigh-pitchedbeepsounds.
Thebatteryshouldberechargedorreplacedassoonaspossible.
