Bypassing the Repeater (on Analog Channels)
Foranalogchannels,userscanbypasstheradiorepeaterandcommunicatedirectlywithanotherradio.Thisfeatureis
knownasrepeatertalkaround.Thiscanbedone,forexample,whenyouareoutofrangeoftherepeater,orifthe
repeaterisbusyorstopsworking.Whilerepeatertalkaroundisactive,alltransmissionsaremadeonthereceivefre-
quencyofthechannelyouareon.
Toactivaterepeatertalkaround,youmaybeabletoeitheruseaprogrammedfunctionkey,orusetheMainmenu.
Using the Main menu
1.Selecttherequiredchannel.
2.PressMenuandselectRadio settings>Functions>Talkaround.
3.IntheTalkaroundmenu,chooseOn.
4.PressSelect.ThemessageTalkaround activatedappearsbriefly,andtherepeatertalkaroundicon
appearsonthedisplay.
5.Proceedwithyourcall.
6.Toturnrepeatertalkaroundoff,eitherchangethechannel,orchooseOffintheTalkaroundmenu.
Using a function key
1.Selecttherequiredchannel.
2.Presstheprogrammedfunctionkeytoturnrepeatertalkaroundon.ThemessageTalkaround activated
appearsbriefly,andtherepeatertalkaroundicon appearsonthedisplay.
3.Proceedwithyourcall.
4.Toturnrepeatertalkaroundoff,eitherchangethechannel,orpressthefunctionkeyagain.
Using the Radio in Different Repeater Areas
Theradiomayhaveagroupofchannelsprogrammedasavotinggroup.Thechannelsinthevotinggroupallcarrythe
sametraffic,butfromdifferentrepeaters.Astheradiomovesinandoutofdifferentrepeatercoverageareas,thebest
communicationchannelisautomaticallyselectedforuse.
Thischannelisknownasthe‘home’channel,andwillbethechannelusedtomakeandreceivecalls.Whilevotingis
active,thescanningicon appearsonthedisplay.
ThesectionSelectingaScanorVotingGroupexplainshowtoselectagroup.Agroupcanbeeitheravotingora
scanninggroup.
