Capacity: 400 amperes continuous, 480 amperes continuous/480 amperes maximum - 600 volts a.c.
Application: For use with 3 or 4 wire, single phase and polyphase self-contained, Type K watt/hour meters.
Enclosures: Constructed of 14 gauge galvannealed steel suitable for indoor or outdoor installations. Aluminum enclosures also available-
contact factory. All enclosures are NEMA type 3R.
Bypass: Separate manual type (2 required for K-5, 3 required for K-7) or rotating link. Both types have 100% bypass capacity.
Blocks: Glass fiber reinforced polyester plastic. High strength, arc and track resistant.
Terminals: 1/2” - 20 plated steel studs with nuts and captive Belleville washers to accommodate various pressure type lugs for conductors
from #6 to 800 MCM Cu or Al. Require 3/4” socket wrench.
Meter Mounting: Stud type 5/16 - 24. 1/2” wrench required. Studs are positioned so the meter cannot be installed upside down.
UL: Type K-7 and K-7T are UL listed except as restricted by NEC wire-bending requirements. Both types may be wired for under
ground feed using parallel conductors on the line side. Type K-7T may also be wired using overhead feed with parallel
conductors on the line side. All devices require parallel wiring on the load side for UL listing. Type K-7 devices are U.L. listed
for up to 600 amperes capacity when wired to NEC capacity.

Instructions for installing and operating K-7 rotating link bypass #69623
To install bypass:
1. Remove the 3 nuts “A” from the studs extending from the 3 bypass bars.
2. Assure that bypass feet are vertically positioned in relation to the bypass handle as shown and the 3 handle
screws are tight enough so that bypass feet do not turn.
3. Install bypass assembly with the handle screws toward the top edge of the bypass handle as shown. Slide the
3 bypass feet over the exposed studs, through the holes in the bypass feet.
4. Loosen the 3 handle screws approximately 1/8 turn using a small standard-tip screwdriver.
5. Re-install nuts “A” and tighten securely so that bypass feet are in the vertical, non-bypassed position.
To operate bypass:
1. Loosen the 3 nuts “A” located on the 3 bypass bars, 1 full turn.
2. Loosen the 3 nuts “B” located on the line side current connectors, 4 full turns.
3. Slide the bypass handle from right to left, until the curved slots in the bypass feet rest against the studs on
the current connectors.
4. Securely tighten all 6 nuts “A” and “B”, while ensuring the bypass feet remain resting against the connector studs.
