VSXNETloudspeakersaredesignedtoneednoequalisationorcorrectiontoovercomesystemlimitations.Asa
result,theywillonlyneedequalisationtocompensatefordifcultacousticenvironments.
Overequalisationcanreducesystemheadroom,andintroducephasedistortionresultingingreaterproblems
thancures.Ifequalisationisrequiredthenitshouldbeappliedgentlyandsmoothly.VNETfullrange
loudspeakersarepointsource,phasecoherentdesignsandviolentequalisationwillbedetrimentaltothe
overallsoundquality.
Whenaloudspeakerisusedincloseproximitytoanother,comblteringeffectscancreatecoverageproblems;
comblteringcreatesanunevenfrequencyresponseacrossthecoverageareaduetoconstructiveand
destructiveinterferenceeffectsbetweenthesources.Theamountofcomblteringisaffectedbythespacingof
therelativesoundsources.Minimisingthiseffectcannotbecuredbyequalisation(seethefollowingsectionfor
moredetails).
