Cool surrounding facilities, etc. with water spray.
Extinguish fire from upwind, and the fire extinguishing method should be appropriate to the situation in the surroundings.
6. Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use proper personal protective equipment as
indicated in Section 8.
Environmental precautions: Keep cleaning run-offs out of municipal sewers and open bodies of water. Comply with local
and national laws and regulations.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
If the battery material is released, remove personnel from area until fumes dissipate. Provide maximum ventilation to clear out
hazardous gases. Wipe it up with a cloth, and dispose of it in a plastic bag and put into a steel can. The preferred response is to
leave the area and allow the battery to cool and vapors to dissipate. Provide maximum ventilation. Avoid skin and eye contact
or inhalation of vapors. Remove spilled liquid with absorbent and incinerate.
7. Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling:
Handling:
Do not breathe vapors or fumes that may be evolved during processing.
Do not disassemble or burn batteries.
Do not squeeze or pierce batteries.
Do not put batteries into water.
Workers must wear proper protective equipment and must operate strictly according to relative rules.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Avoid mechanical or electrical abuse. Storage preferably in cool, dry and ventilated area, which is subject to little temperature
change. Storage at high temperatures should be avoided. Do not place the battery near heating equipment, nor expose to direct
sunlight for long periods.
Incompatible substances or mixtures: No relevant information.
Packing material: No relevant information.
