6 – Working with files and folders
Editing file names (CF cards)
1. Select the folder that you want to edit, and turn the DATA
dial to select
RENAME
.
2. Press the DATA dial to open the
RENAME
screen.
3. Edit the file name. Follow the instructions in "Editing text"
on page 33.
4. When you have finished editing the file name, press the
BROWSE button to confirm the change.
The words
-- FILEACCESS --
and a progress bar appear
in a pop-up while the file name is being changed.
After the file name has been changed, the
BROWSE
screen
reopens.
NOTE
You can also directly access CF cards from a computer to
change the names of files, but doing so could change the
previous playback order of the files.
Changing file names using the procedures above will
reorder the files by character code and might cause the
playback order to change.
Names that contain characters other than the letters of the
alphabet, numbers and symbols cannot be edited (the name
will not appear when the RENAME function is being used).
The following symbols and punctuation marks cannot be
used in names.
¥ /: ;, * ? “ < > |
File names can be up to 52 characters (single-byte) long.
The full path on the BROWSE screen cannot exceed 255
characters (system limitation). So, the maximum number of
characters for a file within a folder, including the names of
all folders above it and separators, is 255.
You can connect a USB computer keyboard to the
KEYBOARD connector on the rear panel of the unit and use it
to edit text. (See "9 – Operation using a computer keyboard"
on page 47.)
Deleting folders and files (CF cards)

folder, all the files in it will also be deleted.

to select
DELETE
.
2. Press the DATA dial and a confirmation pop-up message
appears.
To cancel the deletion, press the MENU button.
3. To confirm the deletion, press the DATA dial.
The words
-- FILEACCESS --
and a progress bar appear
in a pop-up while the item is being deleted from the card.
After deletion is complete, the
BROWSE
screen reopens.
NOTE
If you try to delete a file that has been added to a program, a
“P.LIST Registerd DELETE Execute?” confirmation message will
appear.
