Cassette tape recorder
Cassette tape compartment does not close.
e The cassette tape is not properly loaded. Reinsert it.
Sound quality is poor.
e Clean the heads (page 39).
Playback speed seems somewhat fast or slow.
e Check the pitch control setting (page 25).
Cannot record
e If the erasure prevention tabs on top of the cassette are broken
off, cover the holes using pieces of adhesive tape.
e Check the recording level setting (page 32).
USB flash drive
No sound even if the USB Play (
t
) button is pressed.
e Confirm that there are MP3 files on the USB flash drive.

e Confirm that the USB flash drive is not locked.
e When record from an analog source, check the recording level
setting (page 29).
e Correct recording might not be possible depending on the USB
flash drive. If this occurs, change to a different USB flash drive. See
the TEAC Global Site (http://teac-global.com/) for information
about USB flash drives that our company has confirmed for
operation with this unit.
Recording to all USB flash drives using this unit is not guaranteed.
Troubleshooting (continued)
Monitored sound skips.
e When recording from a CD to a USB flash drive, the monitored
sound might skip depending on the type of USB flash drive, but
this will not affect the recorded data.
MP3 files
Unknown characters are displayed on the display panel.
e This unit cannot display double-byte symbols and characters
(such as Japanese and Chinese) correctly. MP3 file names must
only be alphanumeric characters to be shown properly.
“No title, “No artist” or “No album” appears on the display.
e ID3 tag information for the music file is missing. Edit the title,
artist and/or album information of the song on a PC using a
suitable application.
Since this device uses a microcontroller, external noise and
other interference can cause the unit to malfunction. If this
occurs, turn the power off and, after waiting for about one min-
ute, restart operation.
Beware of condensation
Condensation could occur if the unit is moved from a cold place
to a warm place, it is used immediately after a cold room has
been heated or it is otherwise exposed to a sudden temperature
change. To prevent this, or if this occurs, let the unit sit for one or
two hours at the new room temperature before using it.
