6 – Playback
This chapter explains functions for playing back audio files
stored on SSD/HDD drives.
This explanation assumes that you have already installed an
SSD/HDD drive that contains audio files into the unit and that
the unit is on.
Files that can be played back
This unit can play back files in the following formats.
•
File formats: BWF, WAV
•
Sampling frequencies: 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96 kHz
•
Quantization bit depth: 16/24-bit
•
Number of channels: 1
CAUTION
Takes with sampling frequencies that are different from that
set on the
REC Fs
screen cannot be played back.
To play takes with sampling frequencies that are different
from that set on the
REC Fs
screen, change the setting
on the
REC Fs
screen. (See “Setting the recording file
format” on page 25.)
NOTE
The maximum number of playback channels for this unit
depends on the sampling frequency as follows.
o 44.1/48kHz: 64 channels
o 88.2/96kHz: 32 channels
Basic playback operations
This section explains basic operations, including starting,
stopping and pausing play.
This explanation assumes that you have already made necessary
connections, turned the unit on, installed an SSD/HDD drive
that contains audio files and opened the Home Screen on the
display.
Playing recordings
Press the t button on the unit to start playback.
If the media does not contain any audio files that the unit can
play, a
There is no take.
pop-up message will appear.

Stopping playback:
Press the 8 button.

Pausing playback:
Press the 9 [CHASE] button.
Selecting takes
This section explains how to select a take when there are
multiple takes.
Skipping to the previous/next take
Use the .// [MARK .//] buttons to skip to the
previous/next take.
Selecting takes directly
1. On the
BROWSE
screen, turn the MULTI JOG dial to select
that take you want to play.
2. Press the MULTI JOG dial to open the file menu.
3. Select the SELECT item in the file menu and press the MULTI
JOG dial to make the selected take the current take and
return to the Home Screen.
Searching backward and forward
You can search backward and forward within a take.
1. Play or pause the desired take.
2. Press and hold the m/, button to search backward/
forward.
3. Release the button to stop searching and resume the
previous state (playing or paused).
NOTE
When searching backward/forward, press and hold the
other m/, button for the opposite direction to search
at high speed.
Setting the play mode
This sets the playback mode.
1. Select the
PLAY MODE
item on the
PLAY SETUP
page
to open the
PLAY MODE
screen. (See “Menu operation
procedures” on page 16.)
2. Set the play mode.
Options
SINGLE
(default): Only play the currently selected take
ALL
: Play all the takes in the currently loaded folder
3. Confirm the setting and return to the Menu Screen.
Setting the repeat mode
This turns the repeat function on or off.
1. Select the
REPEAT MODE
item on the
PLAY SETUP
page to open the
REPEAT MODE
screen. (See “Menu
operation procedures” on page 16.)
2. Turn the repeat function on or off.
Options:
OFF
(default),
ON
3. Confirm the setting and return to the Menu Screen.
NOTE
When repeat playback is on, that area will be played back
according to the playback mode.
