112 TASCAM DM-4800 User’s Manual
MIDI faders
In this mode, the first 16 faders are used to transmit a
defined Control Change message when the
REMOTE
fader layer mode is selected and the
MIDI FADERS
screen is displayed, or was the last external control
screen displayed.
1 Select the
MIDI FADERs
option from the external
control screen (Figure 8.3, External Control).
2 Set the Control Change message using the
CONTROL
setup screen (below at Figure 8.5,
MIDI Faders setup screen) or in the
ID
field of
the
EXT. CTRL
screen:
3 Use the wheel to select the control change
number (the “translation” of this number
appears automatically underneath the
number).
The MIDI Control Change messages trans-
mitted by the fader are sent on the MIDI
channel corresponding to the fader number.
Faders 17 through 24 are not used here.
MIDI Mixer
This allows you to use the 24 faders, the MUTE keys,
and the encoders (as pan controls) on the 16 different
MIDI channels of a device connected to the
MIDI
OUT port.
This may be used for older DAWs, or for plug-in
control where HUI or Mackie Control emulation is
not appropriate.
The
REMOTE fader layer must be selected and the
MIDI MIXER
screen must be displayed or be the last
external control displayed.
1 Select the
MIDI Mixer
option from the external
control screen (Figure 8.3, External Control).
