Discs Discs which can be played in this unit: M Conventional audio CDs bearing the COMPACT DISC DIGITAL AUDIO logo on the label. < Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid dust and scratches that could cause the laser pickup to ”skip”. < Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high humidity and temperature for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures will warp the disc. < Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged.
MP3 and WMA iPod Compatibility < This unit can play MP3 files recorded on various external USB storage devices such as USB flash memory, MP3 player or HDD. The HDD must be formatted in FAT 16 or FAT 32, not NTFS. < When more than 2000 files are recorded on the USB memory, the unit might not be able to play them correctly. < File names of MP3 or WMA files should be in alphanumeric characters. This unit cannot display symbols or full-size or doublebyte characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly.

Remote Control Unit The provided remote control unit allows the unit to be operated from a distance. When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the remote sensor on the front panel of the unit. < Even if the remote control unit is operated within the effective range, remote control operation may be impossible if there are any obstacles between the unit and the remote control unit.
Basic Operation A How to turn the unit on or standby Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit on or put it in the standby mode. C Listening through headphones Insert the headphone plug into the PHONES jack, and adjust the volume. < The sound from speakers will not be cut off. Standby/On indicator ENGLISH The Standby/On indicator goes out when the unit is turned on. The Standby/On indicator lights red when the unit is in the standby mode.
Listening to a CD 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “CD.” 4 Press the Open/close button (L) to close the tray. < Be careful not to pinch your finger. 2 Press the Open/close button (L). < It takes a few seconds for the unit to load a disc. No buttons will work during loading. Wait until the total number of tracks/files and the total play time of the disc are displayed. Audio CD The total number of tracks and total play time of the disc are displayed.
Listening to a USB Storage Device 5 Press the Play button (y) to start playback. You can play MP3/WMA files by connecting various external USB storage devices such as USB flash memory. 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “USB”. “Not connected” will be displayed if no USB device is connected. Disc playback starts from the first track/file. Audio CD When an HDD device is connected to this unit, it may take several minutes to display the number of files.
Listening to an iPod 1 Press the CD/USB button to select “USB.” Playback CD USB Playback from selected track/file 1 Press the Skip/search buttons (.m/,/) to select a track/file, or use the numeric buttons to input the track/file number. 2 Connect your iPod using the USB cable supplied with the iPod. The iPod automatically turns on and starts playback from the iPod music list. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”.
CD USB Playback files in a folder iPod To go back to the previous menu You can select a folder that contains WMA/MP3 files. 1 Use the FOLDER buttons (¥/˙) to select a folder. Press the MENU button to go back to the previous menu. This button is equivalent to the MENU button on your iPod. ENGLISH 2 Press the ENTER button. iPod Select a menu item 1 Use the FILE buttons (¥/˙) to select a menu item. 3 If you want to select a file, use the FILE buttons (¥/˙). 2 Press the ENTER button.
Playback 2 CD USB iPod To skip to the next or a previous track/file CD USB To stop playback Press the Stop button (H). During playback, press the Skip/search buttons (.m/ ,/) repeatedly until the desired track/file is found. The selected track/file will be played from the beginning. On the remote control unit use the Skip buttons (.//). In stop or pause mode, press the Skip/search buttons (.m/,/) repeatedly until the track/file you want to listen to is found.
Programmed Playback CD USB Up to 32 tracks/files can be programmed in the desired order. 1 Press the PROGRAM button while in the stop mode. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”. To select numbers less than 10, press “0” and then the number. As an example, to select number 5, press “0” then “5”. (Optionally, you may press just the number “5” and wait for a few seconds.) 3 Within 5 seconds, press the PROGRAM button.
Programmed Playback 2 CD USB To check the programmed order In stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly. The track/file number and program number will be shown on the display. CD USB To change or add a track/file to the program You can also use the numeric buttons. For example, to select track/file number 25, press “2” first then “5”. Shuffle Playback CD USB To clear the program 1 In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button. CD USB When the SHUFFLE button is pressed, the tracks/files on the disc or USB storage device will be played randomly. When CD is selected 2 Hold down the CLEAR button for more than 4 seconds.
Repeat Playback CD USB iPod CD To repeat a designated section (A-B repeat mode) 1 Press the PLAY (G) button to start playback. 2 Designate the point at which playback should start (point A) by pressing the A-B button. Every time the 1/ALL button is pressed, the mode is changed as follows: The REPEAT and A - indicators light. 3 Press the A-B button again at the ending point (B).

Display 2 iPod Changing the display mode You can select the iPod screen or CD-P650 display to show the menu. Before Recording CAUTION < Do not disconnect the USB storage device during recording. Do not disconnect the power cord during recording. It may cause damage to the products. < Adjust the volume of the external audio source to a suitable level before recording. If not, the recording quality will be poor. Note < The recorded files are saved in the AUDIO folder.
Setting the Recoding Mode You can set the bit rate and recording speed, and select the number of recorded songs (1 or all). Bit rate You can set the bit rate of MP3 files for recording. 1 Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”. CD/Stop REC SET: MP3 64K Each time the Skip/search button (.m/ ,/) pressed, the bit rate is changed as follows: 64k 128k 192k Recording speed: You can set the recording speed to x1 or x2. ENGLISH 2 Hold down the RECORD button more than 2 seconds.
Recording to a USB Storage Device 1 Set the number of recorded songs to “1 song” or “CD ALL”. 6 Press the RECORD button. (See page 23) 2 Connect the external USB storage device to the USB port of CD-P650. Depending on the selected setting, the selected song will be recorded or recording starts from the beginning of the first song on the CD. Recording will stop automatically when playback of the single song or of the final song on the CD has finished. 3 Press the CD/USB button repeatedly to select “CD”.

Mando a distancia El mando a distancia que se suministra permite el control remoto de la unidad. Cuando emplee el mando a distancia, apúntelo hacia el sensor de control remoto situado en el panel frontal de la unidad. < Incluso cuando el mando a distancia se utilice dentro del rango de alcance efectivo, puede dar problemas de funcionamiento si hay obstáculos interpuestos entre el mando y la unidad.
