Nitro Engines.
With the CRF engines,Team Orion
has created a new performance
benchmark. CRF engines are desi-
gned to be used with competition
RC cars and they possess seve-
ral features which are not found in-
side competitors engines. The main
technological advancements inside
CRF engines are found around the
crankshaft which is very different
than traditional crankshafts found
in regular engines. The central gas
channel is angled. This angle al-
lows the crankshaft to work as a
compressor as it spins, the effect
is even greater when the RPM in-
crease. Another effect is that it pre-
vents the fresh mixture from boun-
cing against the crankcase cover.
The crankshaft has milled slots,
which are located around the intake
port. Not only do these slots improve
the balancing of the crankshaft to mi-
nimize vibrations, but they actually
pickup fresh fuel mixture and push
it trough a special lateral canal inside
the crankcase. This canal carries the
mixture through the rear bearing to
improve lubrication and filling of the
rear crankcase.
The conrod is also shaped to take
advantage of the improved mixture
flow and is manufactured using the
highest grade aluminum available.
The CRF technology was designed
in Switzerland and the motors are
manufactured in Italy, using pro-
ven manufacturing techniques. To
