Using the iDRAC6 Directory Service
A directory service maintains a common database for storing information
about users, computers, printers, etc. on a network. If your company uses
either the Microsoft Active Directory or the LDAP Directory Service
software, you can configure the software to provide access to iDRAC6,
allowing you to add and control iDRAC6 user privileges to your existing users
in your directory service.
Using iDRAC6 With Microsoft Active Directory
NOTE: Using Active Directory to recognize iDRAC6 users is supported on the
Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Server 2008
operating systems.
You can configure user authentication through Microsoft Active Directory to
log in to the iDRAC6. You can also provide role-based authority, which
enables an administrator to configure specific privileges for each user. For
more information, see the subsequent sections.
Table 7-1 shows the iDRAC6 Active Directory user privileges.
