Playing back Hybrid Super Audio
CDs
Hybrid Super Audio CD discs include a conventional
CD layer along with the Super Audio CD layer.
Although Super Audio CD layer is preferentially
played back, you can select the CD layer or Super
Audio CD layer for playback by pressing [CD] while
the playback stops.
Note
• Audio signal of Super Audio CD and Super Audio
CD layer of Hybrid Super Audio CD cannot be
output from the digital audio output terminal
of this unit. Connect the device to the analogue
audio output terminal.
• The layer cannot be selected on the disc except
Hybrid Super Audio CD discs.
MQA decoding
This unit includes the MQA (Master Quality
Authenticated) technology, which enables playback
of MQA audio files and streams, delivering the
sound of the original master recording. This unit is a
CD player that can recognise an MQA-CD. The built-
in MQA decoder will restore the high-resolution
signal heard in the studio and confirm it, using the
authentication signature. Visit www.mqa.co.uk/

To deliver the master quality audio of MQA, MQA
decoding function needs to be set to “On”. Switch
the MQA decoding function to “On” or “Off” in the
following steps.
• The default setting is “Off”.
1 Press [NWP].
2 Press and hold [RE-MASTER] for approx.
2 seconds or longer.
• “MQA Decoding : On” is displayed and the
MQA decoding function is set to “On”. (Press
and hold for approx. 2 seconds again to set the
function to “Off”.)
3 Play back the MQA file.
• You can also set “MQA Decoding” to “On” from
the setup menu.
Press [NWP].
Press [SETUP].
Press [ ], [ ] repeatedly to select “MQA
Decoding” and then press [OK].
Press [ ], [ ] to select “On” and then press
[OK].
