DESCRIPTION OF THE BUTTONS Press this button to connect the chest strap. During the warm-up, press this button to start the exercise. During the exercise, press this button to pause the exercise. During the exercise or when paused, press and hold this button to end the exercise and view the results. During the warm-up and during the exercise, press these buttons to scroll through the pages with the workout data.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DISPLAY The product is self powered. Pedal for a few seconds to turn on the display. To switch off the display, stop pedalling for at least 30 seconds; the product will also switch off if the pedal cadence is below 40 rpm. The workout values are divided into 4 pages. At the start of the exercise, the 4 pages are displayed in alternating fashion for around 10 seconds. Then the first page remains displayed. Press the arrow buttons to scroll through the pages.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DISPLAY Page 1 contains the following: Page 3 contains the following: Pedal cadence, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Average pedal cadence since the start of the exercise, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm). Instantaneous power, expressed in watts. Instantaneous speed, expressed in km/h. Instantaneous heart rate, expressed in beats per minute. Calorie consumption, expressed in kilocalories. Effort level Distance covered, expressed in kilometres.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DISPLAY The heart rate is displayed only if the chest strap is connected. The time is displayed only during the exercise, not during the warm-up phase. The ratio between instantaneous power and threshold power is displayed only if the threshold power is known. The threshold power is calculated with the Technogym threshold power test. The ratio between instantaneous heart rate and maximum heart rate is displayed only if the age is known.
STARTING AN EXERCISE To switch on the display, pedal for a few seconds at a cadence of at least 40 rpm. The warm-up phase begins. The duration is not counted during the warm-up. Press this button during the warm-up to start an exercise. When the exercise begins, all values are reset and the calculations start again. It is possible to connect the chest strap both during the warm-up and the exercise.
TECHNOGYM THRESHOLD POWER TEST This test allows you to calculate your threshold power. If you have also connected a chest strap, the threshold heart rate will also be calculated. To obtain this result, the chest strap must be connected before starting the test. Before the test it is advisable to perform a warm-up of at least 20 minutes at increasing levels of intensity. Press and hold these two buttons simultaneously within a minute of the display turning on to start the power test.
TECHNOGYM THRESHOLD POWER TEST If you have taken the test recently, and so your threshold power is known 16 minutes 4 minutes Maintain 70% of the threshold power resulting from the last test for the first 16 minutes. Choose a cadence between 70 and 100 rpm and keep it constant. Increase the cadence and intensity to reach your maximum possible level of performance. During the test, the following data are shown on the display: - Pedal cadence, expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm).
USING THE CHEST STRAP The lower part of the display contains a receiver which receives the heart rate signals from the telemetric chest strap. The transmission technology used is Bluetooth Smart. The connection must be repeated with each workout. Receiver Press this button to connect the chest strap. The chest strap must be less than 30 cm from the receiver. Keep as close to the receiver as possible for 10 seconds to facilitate the connection.
USING THE CHEST STRAP Warnings During a workout it is very important that your heart rate never go above 90% of the maximum (unless you are an athlete engaged in competitive sport). The sole function of the heart rate monitor is to display the heart rate during exercise and cannot be used for medical cardiac diagnoses of any kind. The heart rate shown on the display is purely indicative and cannot be considered absolutely certain.
HEART RATE AND POWER VALUES ZONE COLOUR % FTP % MAX HR Blue Active recovery ≤ 55% ≤ 60% Green Endurance 56 - 75% 61 - 70% Yellow Medium exertion 76 - 90% 71 - 80% Orange Lactate threshold 91 - 105% 81 - 90% VO2max 106 - 120% 91 - 100% Aerobic capacity 121 - 150% - Neuromuscular power - - Red The table shows the training intensity zones with respect to the user's maximum heart rate and functional threshold power (FTP).
ENTERING PERSONAL DATA Press and hold these two buttons simultaneously within a minute of the display turning on to enter age, weight and functional threshold power values. The default age of 30 is displayed. Press the arrow buttons to set your actual age. Press the start exercise button to confirm and proceed to the next parameter. A default threshold power value of 100 watts is displayed. Press the arrow buttons to set your threshold power, as given by the test.
CHOOSING UNITS OF MEASUREMENT Press and hold these three buttons simultaneously within a minute of the display turning on to choose between metric and imperial/US measurements. The display shows KM. Press the arrow buttons to set KM or MI. Press the start exercise button to confirm and proceed to the next parameter. The display shows kg. Press the arrow buttons to set kg or lbs. Press the start exercise button to confirm and exit.
