Press the PLAY button to resume normal playback.
Severe hum or noise is heard.
eCheck that the speakers and components are
connected securely.
eMake sure the line cords and speaker cables are
as far away from the AC supply as possible.
eThis unit cannot play such discs as CD-ROMs. Use
a playable disc.
Remote control doesn't work.
eWhen the function selected by the main unit and remote
control unit differs, remote control doesn't work. Press
the FUNCTION buttons (DVD, TUNER, MD/CD-R, TAPE,
AUX) of the remote control unit to select correct function.
(Even when the FUNCTION buttons are pressed without
pointing at the main unit, the function of the remote
control unit will be changed.)
eIf the batteries are dead, change the batteries.
eUse remote control unit within the range (5m /15ft)
and point at the front panel.
eClear obstacles between the remote control unit
and the main unit.
eIf a strong light is near the unit, turn it off.
Cannot play.
eLoad a disc with the playback side facing down.
If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.
eA blank disc has been loaded. Load a prerecorded disc.
eCheck the region code of the DVD.
Sound skips.
ePlace the unit on a stable place to avoid vibration
and shock.
eIf the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc.
eDon't use scratched, damaged or warped discs.
Noise bars appear on the screen
eReplace the tape.
eAdjust tracking manually using the TRACKING UP
and DOWN buttons on the remote control (see
page 57.)
eDon't forget to pick-up a VCR cleaning tape to
maintain like new performance of your DVD/VCR.
TV recording does not work
ePlace a piece of vinyl tape over the hole (see page 54.)
One touch timer recording does not work
eSet the present time (see page 48).
Timer recording does not work
eReset the present time (see page 48).
eReset the start/end time (see pages 62-65).
e The TIMER REC button has not been pressed
(Press the T-REC).
If normal operation cannot be recovered, unplug the
power cord from the outlet and plug it in again. This
resets the internal micro-computer which can be
disturbed during electrical storms, power
interruptions, etcetera.
Troubleshooting
In case you experience any problem with this unit,
please take the time to look through this chart and see if
you can solve the problem yourself before you call your
dealer or a WELTON service center.
No power
eCheck the connection to the AC wall outlet. Make
sure the outlet is not switched by a lamp switch by
plugging in another electrical device to see if the
outlet is “live”.
Playback does not start
eReload the disc with the label side UP.
eClean the disc.
PROHIBIT icon A appears on the screen
eThe operation is not permitted by the disc or the unit.
eNote that during playback of a title part (cautions,
software maker's logo, etc.), most operations are
prohibited by the disc.
eIf another operation is still in process, wait a
moment and try again.
Picture playback stops and operation buttons do not
work.
eTurn the unit off and back on again and restart the
playback.
No picture.
eTurn on the TV.
eCheck that the system is connected properly.
eMake sure you have selected the proper video
input on the TV so that you can view the pictures
from the DVD/VCR.
eWhen your TV isn't compatible with Progressive scan,
never set the progressive mode on.
Picture noise.
eIf video from this system has to go through your
VCR to get to your TV, the copy-protection applied
to some DVD programs could affect picture
quality. Please connect the unit directly to your TV.
The image is distorted or monochromatic.
eThe color system selected does not match your
TV. Press the PAL/NTSC button of the remote
control unit once or twice.
eSelect the aspect ratio to match your TV.
The aspect ratio of the screen cannot be changed.
eThe aspect ratio might be fixed by the disc.
eDepending on the TV, you may not be able to
change the aspect ratio.
There is no sound or only a very low-level sound is
heard.
eCheck that the speakers and components are
connected securely.
eCheck the operation of the connected component.
eCheck the audio output setting.
eThe sound is muted during pause, slow-motion,
fast forward/reverse, and stepping playback.
