To avoid serious burn injuries or damage to your engine, DO NOT attempt to start or troubleshoot this engine in any other way. For example: ! WARNING • DO NOT use starting fluid. Figure 8.
II. Independent Speed and Choke Controls 1. To avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, be sure engine is outdoors in a well-ventilated area. Choke Control 2. Move independent speed control to “FAST” position and set independent choke control to “FULL CHOKE” position (see equipment manufacturer’s instructions). See Figures 9 thru 11. Speed Control NOTES Generator and Water Pump applications may have the choke lever mounted on the engine. See Figure 12.
B. Engines with Recoil Starters If you have an electric starter see "A. Engines with Electric Starters" instructions on page 6. Only one of the following two sections will apply to your engine. See Table 4. Table 4. Engine Sections with Recoil Starters If your engine has: Go to: Combined Speed and Choke Control Section B.I Independent Speed and Choke Controls Section B.II I. Figure 13. Combined Speed and Choke Control Combined Speed and Choke Control 1.
See Figures 14, 16, and 17. Speed Control NOTES Generator and Water Pump applications may have the independent choke lever mounted on the engine. See Figure 18.
VI. Stopping Your Engine and Short-Term Storage Stop engine according to equipment manufacturer’s instructions. To avoid unsupervised operation of ! WARNING an engine, especially by children, NEVER leave it unattended when it is running. Always turn off the engine after use and remove ignition key, if provided.
