Daytime Use of TV-85 with Bino Vue
Background: We’ve been asked to find a way to use the 60º
Everbrite diagonal with the TV-85 and Bino Vue, because of the great
comfort factor of the 60º angle (instead of the 90º angle) for daytime
use. The longer path-length and shorter eyepiece holder depth of the
60º diagonal required development of components with shortened path lengths to
compensate for use of the 60º diagonal.
You need the following components:
1. 60º diagonal (DPC-6012)
2. Bino-Vue (BVP-2002)
3. 2x amplifier-corrector (BVP-2001)
4. Bino Vue Flat Coupler BVC-0125. This disc replaces the black tube on the
Bino Vue that the 2x amplifier-corrector screws into and comes with
BVP-2001. (Note: if you purchase the BVP-2002 it consists of: BVB-2003,
BVC-0125 and BVP-2001.)
5. Flat top 2” to 1¼” Adapter ACF-2125. This adapter locks into the front tube of
the 60º diagonal and is secured with a nylon tipped set-screw.
6. Telescope Balance Aid APB-1008.
If you don’t have the APB-1008 already, you must add this to the TV-85 ring mount.
It allows the balance point to be shifted forward so that heavy eyepieces or the Bino
Vue can be comfortably balanced.
We also highly
recommend a set of
24mm Panoptics,
which will yield 50x
with the Bino Vue
and TV-85 or 32mm
Plössls yielding 38x.
Either eyepiece set
gives a 1.3º field of
view (68ft @ 1,000-
yards).
