The actual bitrate of the signal is measured and the deviation from the nominal value is compared to
the specification.

Dark level and Extinction Ratio 2.1
The dark level of the O/E converter is measured and used to calculate the extinction ratio. To
measure the dark level, remove the POF-fibre from the O/E-converter. Shade the input of the O/E-
converter and press the “OK” button. Skipping the measurement of the dark level is allowed but will
result in a failure of the extinction ratio test.
