If something doesn’t seem to work on the DVD player
The player does not play.
No sound comes through.
When a disc is playing the picture
does not appear, or you get
"blocking" or " freezing" effects on
the picture.
Sound breaks up, sticks or skips a
section.
remote control does not work.
Dolby Digital 5.1 CH sound does
not work
“AUDIO” or “SUBTITLE” button
does not work.
Checks
Symptom
If a DVD is from overseas, it may not be played. Please check the
DVD’s region code is 3 or All.
Please check whether a DVD is inserted the right way up.
If it is a CD-ROM for PC or DVD-ROM, it does not work.
Play mode may be “SLOW” or “PAUSE”(In abnormal speed
play, no sound comes through)
Did you connect the equipment correctly ? Are all plugs fully inserted ?
For external decoder amplifier, check the correct digital output is
selected on-disc (dts or Dolby) and in the DVD set-up (audio)
menu (bit stream or PCM).

Are all plugs fully inserted ?
Check if the disc is dirty or damaged.
Does your television work with the video standard set in the
DVD set-up menu or on the disc ? Try changing disc. See
'Selecting a TV type' on page 60.
Please check the connection with Dolby Digital amplifier.
Please check the connecting plugs are clean and firmly connected.
Check if the disc is dirty or damaged.
Aim the remote control from straight in front of the player and
make sure nothing is in the way.
Battery may be weak or exhausted.
When you operate DVD, use it by pressing [DVD] button.
Dolby Digital 5.1 CH sound only works with a Dolby Digital
decoder.
Please check “Dolby Digital 5.1 CH” mark on your DVD.
In case a decoder-amplifier is connected to the digital output, press
[DVD], [STOP] then [SETUP]. Check under "Audio" that “Digital Out” is
switched on and correct for the decoder. Usually it should be '"bit stream".
Please check the connection is correct.
If a DVD does not include language information, it does not
support the function.
