15. SEND AND RECEIVE TEXT
MESSAGES
Wit h t he t ext m essage net w ork serv i ce, you can send and
receiv e sh ort t ext m essage. You can also send and receive
m essages t hat cont ain a person’s nam e and/ or num ber ( a
“ business card” ) .
To get your m essages, ot her phones m ust have t ext m essage
capabilit y. Or, you can ask t he serv ice provider t o convert t he m essage t o ot her
form at s, su ch as e- m ail.
The m axim um lengt h of a received t ext m essage is
160 charact er s. Your phone has
space for up to
80 t ext m essages, depending on t he lengt h of each m essage.
Not e: The m axim um lengt h of a t ext m essage differs, depending on t he capabilit ies of
the network from which it originat ed. Also, t ext messages may appear different at
different t im es because m essages can originat e in net works ot her t han your own.

15.1 About writing messages
15.1.1 Write with standard text input
Standard t ext input is t he default m ode for text ent ry. The ABC icon ABC appears
as visual confirm at ion.
