I.2 Configuring the Computer to Obtain an IP Address
Automatically
Perform the configuration procedure corresponding to Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows
XP, depending on your OS. A computer installed with a wired network adapter is used as an
example to describe the procedures. The procedures for configuring computers installed with
a wireless network adapter are similar to these procedures.
I.2.1 Windows 8
Step 1 Right-click in the lower-right corner of the desktop and choose Open Network and
Sharing Center.
Step 2 Click Ethernet and then Properties.
