Windows Terminology
For anyone unfamiliar with the Terminology used in Windows software, here is a brief
overview of some of the terms that will be used in subsequent chapters:
n Field. A field allows for the entering and editing of text.
o Pop-up menu. A pop-up menu displays options you can choose from.
p Button. A button performs an action when you click on it.
q Checkbox. A checkbox lets you select or deselect an item or multiple items
from a list.
r Scroll bar. A scroll bar allows you to move up and down through a list that is
too long to be displayed in its entirety within a given display area.
s Radio buttons. A radio button allows you to choose one items from a list.
t Tab. A tab lets you switch between different sets of controls on the same
window.
u Slider. A slider sets a value by letting you slide the control back and forth.
