Speaker positions in the 5.1 configuration Note: About the rear speakers of the ® System 6 THX Select Cinema Set: For the best home theatre results, the M 620 D speakers should be run in dipole mode. Dipole mode is selected on the speaker cabinet's connection panel with a switch between the plus and minus terminals (set to inwards). We recommend you place the rear speakers somewhere in the grey rear area. A fourth placement option for the rear speakers is described on page 11.
Speaker positions in the 5.1/7.1 configuration Rear speaker placement option D Concert Set Alternatively, position the left and right direct-radiating rear speakers of the Concert Set behind the main listening spot, ideally at the same height as the front speakers – e.g., on a shelf or on speaker stands. Higher speaker placement is fine, but avoid placing the rear speakers down low. The rear speakers should be positioned at least 1.00 m away from the listener.
Connect the System 6 THX® Select to any standard 5.1/6.1/7.1 AV receiver to set up a 5.1 surround system with an active subwoofer. If your AV receiver is 6.1/7.1, simply ignore the Rear Centre Out(s). To make full use of a 6.1 AV receiver, you will need to install an additional M 620 FCR speaker. If you have a modern 7.1 AV receiver, you can expand your System 6 THX Select with an EX 5.1>7.1 set consisting of two additional M 620 FCR speakers (see page 7) to create a full-blown 7.
Settings Setting up the AV receiver/amplifier For the System 6 THX®Select with M 6200 SW Active Subwoofer, set the “Speaker Setup” section of your AV receiver to “small” or “normal” (not “large”). This ensures that the speakers receive the right amount of signal, and that the subwoofer and front speakers have matching volumes. Also in the receiver's “Speaker Setup” section (Bass Management/Speaker Management), make sure the subwoofer is set to “On”.
Subwoofer controls Remote control The M 6200 SW subwoofer is controlled entirely via the supplied infrared remote control.
