FEATURES
DESCRIPTION
The LP2980-N is a 50 mA, fixed-output voltage
2
Ultra Low Dropout Voltage
regulator designed specifically to meet the
Output Voltage Accuracy 0.5% (A Grade)
requirements of battery-powered applications.
Ensured 50 mA Output Current
Using an optimized VIP (Vertically Integrated PNP)
Requires Only 1 μF External Capacitance
process, the LP2980-N delivers unequaled
< 1 μA Quiescent Current When Shutdown
performance in all specifications critical to battery-
powered designs:
Low Ground Pin Current at all Load Currents
Dropout Voltage. Typically 120 mV @ 50 mA load,
High Peak Current Capability (150 mA Typical)
and 7 mV @ 1 mA load.
Wide Supply Voltage Range (16V Max)
Ground Pin Current. Typically 375 μA @ 50 mA
Fast Dynamic Response to Line and Load
load, and 80 μA @ 1 mA load.
Low Z
OUT
Over Wide Frequency Range
Sleep Mode. Less than 1 μA quiescent current when
Over-Temperature and Over-Current
ON/OFF pin is pulled low.
Protection
Minimum Part Count. Requires only 1 μF of external
40°C to +125°C Junction Temperature Range
capacitance on the regulator output.
APPLICATIONS
Precision Output. 0.5% tolerance output voltages
available (A grade).
Cellular Phone
Palmtop/Laptop Computer
5.0V, 4.7V, 3.3V, 3.0V and 2.5V versions available as
