FEATURES
DESCRIPTION
The LP2982 is a 50 mA, fixed-output voltage
23
Ultra Low Dropout Voltage
regulator designed to provide ultra low dropout and
Ensured 50 mA Output Current
lower noise in battery powered applications.
Typical Dropout Voltage 180 mV @ 80 mA
Using an optimized VIP™ (Vertically Integrated PNP)
Requires Minimum External Components
process, the LP2982 delivers unequaled performance
< 1 μA Quiescent Current when Shutdown
in all specifications critical to battery-powered
designs:
Low Ground Pin Current at All Loads
Dropout Voltage: Typically 120 mV @ 50 mA load,
Output Voltage Accuracy 1.0% (A Grade)
and 7 mV @ 1 mA load.
High Peak Current Capability (150 mA Typical)
Ground Pin Current: Typically 375 μA @ 50 mA
Wide Supply Voltage Range (16V Max)
load, and 80 μA @ 1 mA load.
Low Z
OUT
0.3Ω Typical (10 Hz to 1 MHz)
Sleep Mode: Less than 1 μA quiescent current when
Over-Temperature/Over-Current Protection
on/off pin is pulled low.
40°C to +125°C Junction Temperature Range
Precision Output: 1.0% tolerance output voltages
available (A grade).
APPLICATIONS
Low Noise: By adding an external bypass capacitor,
Cellular Phone
output noise can be reduced to 30 μV (typical).
Palmtop/Laptop Computer
Four output voltage versions, from 3.0V to 5.0V, are
Personal Digital Assistant (PDA)
available as standard products.
Camcorder, Personal Stereo, Camera
