FEATURES
DESCRIPTION
The LP2989LV is a 500 mA fixed-output voltage
2
Ultra Low Dropout Voltage
regulator designed to provide high performance and
Ensured 500 mA Continuous Output Current
low noise in applications requiring output voltages <
Very Low Output Noise with External
2V.
Capacitor
Output noise can be reduced to 18µV (typical) by
SOIC-8, VSSOP, 8 Lead WSON Surface Mount
connecting an external 10 nF capacitor to the bypass
Packages
pin.
<0.8 μA Quiescent Current when Shut Down
Using an optimized VIP (Vertically Integrated PNP)
Low Ground Pin Current at All Loads
process, the LP2989LV delivers superior
performance:
0.75% Output Voltage Accuracy (“A” Grade)
High Peak Current Capability (800 mA Typical)
Ground Pin Current: Typically 3 mA @ 500 mA load,
and 110 µA @ 100 µA load.
Wide Supply Voltage Range (16V Max)
Sleep Mode: The LP2989LV draws less than 0.8 μA
Overtemperature/Overcurrent Protection
quiescent current when shutdown pin is pulled low.
40°C to +125°C Junction Temperature Range
Error Flag: The built-in error flag goes low when the
APPLICATIONS
output drops approximately 5% below nominal.
Notebook/Desktop PC
Precision Output: Ensured output voltage accuracy is
0.75% (“A” grade) and 1.25% (standard grade) at
PDA/Palmtop Computer
room temperature.
Wireless Communication Terminals
For output voltages 2V, see LP2989 data sheet.
