TheTCA4311isahotswappableI

CbusbufferthatsupportsI/Ocardinsertionintoalivebackplanewithout

corruptionofthedataandclockbusses.Controlcircuitrypreventsthebackplanefrombeingconnectedtothe

carduntilastopcommandorbusidleoccursonthebackplanewithoutbuscontentiononthecard.Whenthe

connectionismade,thisdeviceprovidesbidirectionalbuffering,keepingthebackplaneandcardcapacitances

isolated.Duringinsertion,theSDAandSCLlinesareprechargedto1Vtominimizethecurrentrequiredto

chargetheparasiticcapacitanceofthechip.

WhentheI

Cbusisidle,theTCA4311canbeputintoshutdownmodebysettingtheENpinlow.WhenENis

high,theTCA4311resumesnormaloperation.ItalsoincludesanopendrainREADYoutputpin,whichindicates

thatthebackplaneandcardsidesareconnectedtogether.WhenREADYishigh,theSDAINandSCLINare

connectedtoSDAOUTandSCLOUT.Whenthetwosidesaredisconnected,READYislow.

Boththebackplaneandcardmaybepoweredwithsupplyvoltagesrangingfrom2.7Vto5.5V,withno

restrictionsonwhichsupplyvoltageishigher.

TheTCA4311hasstandardopen-drainI/Os.ThesizeofthepullupresistorstotheI/Osdependsonthesystem,

buteachsideofthisbuffermusthaveapullupresistor.ThedeviceisdesignedtoworkwithStandardModeand

FastModeI
