Defining the Dependent Variable
The selected Y n functions define the dependent variables. You can have as many
dependent variables as there are functions in the current graphing MODE.
From the Y= Editor
Enter the functions to define the dependent variables in the
Y=
editor. The
current graphing
MODE
is used. In
Par
, you must define both components
of the parametric equation. Only functions that are selected are displayed
in the table (Chapter 3).
From the Table Editor
Once a
Y=
function has been entered and selected, you can change it from
the table editor.
1. Move the cursor to the column of the dependent variable.
2. Press
}
until the cursor is on the name of the function at the top of the
column. The function is displayed on the bottom line.
3. You may edit the function. Press
Í
to switch to the editing context
and make the changes. The function in the
Y=
table is updated.
4. Press
Í
or
†
. The new values are calculated, and the table is
updated automatically.
Note: This feature also allows you to view the function that defines the
dependent variable(s) without leaving the table.
