vehicle’s type-approval. The owner could be held responsible for any damage
resulting from vehicle failure that can be attributed to RF energy interfering
with the vehicle systems.
Unapproved modifications or changes to radio
The radio is designed to satisfy the applicable compliance regulations. Do not
make modifications or changes to the radio that are not expressly approved by
Tait International Limited. Failure to do so could invalidate compliance
requirements and void the user’s authority to operate the radio.
Engraving and modification of NI-branded radios (TP8100/TP9100 only)
Warning NI-branded (Non-Incendive) radios and batteries must not be
engraved or modified in any way. For more information on NI-branded radios
refer to “NI-branded radios (TP8100/TP9100 only)” on page 12.
Engraving a magnesium chassis will void warranty (TP9100 only)
Notice Engraving the magnesium chassis of an older TP9100 portable radio
can significantly reduce its mechanical strength and will void any warranty. The
magnesium chassis is black metallic and painted. The aluminium chassis of
newer TP9100 radios is silver gray and unpainted. If a magnesium chassis has
been engraved, it must be replaced.
Attaching of labels (portable radios only)
Warning Do not obstruct the vent hole on the battery (all portable radios) or
the vent hole on the radio chassis label (TP8100, TP9300 and TP9400). If the
vent on the battery is obstructed the battery may explode, causing personal
injury and/or damage to property. If the vent on the radio is obstructed, audio
quality and/or key function may deteriorate and radio seals may be damaged.
Notice Tait International Limited recommends that you do not affix additional
labels to the surfaces between the radio chassis and the battery. The fit
between these surfaces is intentionally firm and any added thickness will
damage the points of attachment between radio and battery. If you must
attach a customized label, use only a thin gummed paper label applied to the
bottom 25% of the radio chassis label and/or to the top 25% of the battery label.
Do not obstruct the vent holes (see Warning above)! Do not allow the paper
label to extend beyond the recessed label area or to conceal relevant product
information.
High radio surface temperatures (mobile radios only)
Caution The bottom surface of the radio and the heatsink fins can become hot
during prolonged operation. Do not touch these parts of the radio.
EN 60950 requirements (25 watt mobiles)
This radio complies with the European Union standard EN 60950 when
operated up to the rated 33% duty cycle of two minutes transmit and four
minutes receive, and with ambient temperatures of 30 °C or lower.
Caution Operation outside these limits may cause the external temperature of
the radio to rise higher than this standard permits.
110 watt mobiles
Do not place objects on the radio. The heatsink needs a clearance of at least
