CAUTION: The supplied AC power cord, has a polarized plug that fits into the wall outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit properly, turn it over and try again. Do not force it. CONNECTION TO TV SET In order to display song lyrics from CDG also to appear on TV screen, you must connect the included video cable (yellow colored RCA single-plug) to the Video Output jack on the back of your SMG-301 unit. Then connect the other end of the video plug (yellow) to the Video Input jack of the television.
ENGLISH MAKING THE CONNECTIONS Please have the sample CDG demo disc provided with your Singing Machine playing in the Singing Machine when you are making these connections so you will see the lyrics on the screen as soon as you have the setup completed correctly. You must specify the source you wish to view when you are connecting the video out from the Singing Machine to either a TV or a VCR. Every TV and VCR manufacturer accomplishes the set-up a little differently.
CONNECTING AN AUDIO COMPONENT FOR OUTPUT To connect an audio component (such as a power amplifier or a PA system amplifier) so you can hear the Singing Machine’s music & vocal through it, plug the audio component into the AUX OUT jacks.
ENGLISH CD OR CD+G OPERATION D Warning - Tapping or dropping the microphone while it is on can permanently damage your microphone. Resist the urge to swing the microphone around by the cord! PREPARATION ! This unit is designed to play CD’s bearing the identification logo “ ” . If CD’s do not conform to the CD standard, they may not play properly. ! Fingerprints and dust should be carefully wiped off with a soft cloth. Wipe in a straight motion from the center of the disc to the outside edge.
SELECT DISC PLAY 7. Press one of the disc select button (DISC 1, DISC 2, DISC 3) to select the disc to be played. The symbol for PLAY “ ” and “1 DISC” appears. Play starts from the first track of the selected disc. The track number and elapsed playing time for the current track are displayed. After play stops at the end of the last track of the selected disc, the total number and total playing time of the selected disc and “TOTAL” will appear.
ENGLISH CD OR CD+G OPERATION TIME DISPLAY SELECTION Press the DISPLAY button repeatedly during normal play. The display changes in the following sequence: REMAIN (Remaining playing time for the current track) REMAIN TOTAL(Total remaining playing time for the disc) TOTAL (Elapsed playing time for the disc) Notes: ! During programmed play “REMAIN TOTAL” and “TOTAL” cannot be displayed. ! The displayed playing times may differ slightly from the times listed on the notes accompanying the disc.

ENGLISH CASSETTE OPERATION LOADING AND UNLOADING CASSETTES Follow these steps to load and unload cassettes: 1. Press the STOP/EJECT button (9). 2. Insert a cassette with desired side facing you, tape surface down. Avoid touching tape. PLAYBACK RECORD/PLAYBACK 3. Close cassette holder/tape deck cover. To ensure firm locking of cassette holder/tape covers, please press the cassette door(s) at the center point (or the maximum right position) until a ‘click’ sound is heard.
CONSECUTIVE PLAY 1. Turn on POWER (1). 2. Follow instructions for MICROPHONES/ ECHO. When either or both microphones are plugged into the Microphone Jacks (3), their output is mixed with the playback from cassette tapes. Adjust MIC VOLUME (2) for the best balance between playback and microphone levels. Adjust ECHO (4) to add depth and richness to vocals. 2. Press FUNCTION SELECT button to select the TAPE function, then load cassettes into both decks (5). 3.

NOTE D Screwdrivers and other metal objects should never be allowed to come in contact with tape heads. These will scratch the sensitive surface causing damage to your tapes. D Magnets or magnetized objects should not be placed near tape heads. POWER SWITCH After using the SMG-301, turn off the power by pressing the POWER button. CLEANING THE UNIT To clean the exterior of the unit, simply wipe with a soft clean cloth moistened with plain lukewarm water.
