Caring for Your Small Wood Projects
After applying a waterproofer or exterior stain, it’s important to properly
maintain your exterior wood projects. Regular care will extend the life of
your outdoor décor, so your family can enjoy it for years to come.
Follow these simple tasks to keep your outdoor pieces looking great:
Perform the ‘splash test’ once per year (sprinkle water on various sections; if
water absorbs and darkens the color of the surface within 5 seconds, surface
is porous and needs to be treated)
Brush off and hose down items regularly to minimize dirt and debris build up
If possible, store your exterior wood furnishings indoors for the winter
Trim nearby bushes and trees to help reduce mildew
Occasionally shift your outdoor wood décor to avoid discoloring
