This document is the Integrators Manual for the TT-3750 BGAN XL Radio Module from
Cobham SATCOM.
The manual describes the general principles for integrating the BGAN XL Radio
Module (RM) in a product to provide access to the Inmarsat BGAN network. The
manual is also intended as a reference manual for looking up details regarding
protocols, parameters, commands, troubleshooting etc.
This manual covers software version 1.07 or higher.
1.2 Chapter overview
Chapter 2, Introduction to BGAN, describes the BGAN network, IAI-2 layering, the
physical layer and user terminal classes.
Chapter 3, Product overview, lists the key features, applications, overview over
interfaces available and some specifications.
Chapter 4, System description, provides an overall description of the BGAN XL Radio
Module and introduces terms and functional behaviour of special importance for
integrators.
Chapter 5, Product specifications, provides all physical specifications related to the
BGAN XL Radio Module, e.g. mechanical outline, environmental specifications and
electrical specifications of all interfaces.
Chapter 6, Startup & configuration, provides a complete and consistent description of
the start-up procedure and the associated configuration parameters that the integrator
meets to bring a BGAN XL Radio Module into an operational mode.
Chapter 7, Data interfaces, presents the services provided and the protocols used on
the Data interface. The data interface applies standard protocols wherever possible
and feasible. Furthermore the protocols applicable for the TSI interface used for ISDN
data are described.
Chapter 8, Control interface, specifies the protocols applicable for the control-interface
protocol. This protocol is a proprietary protocol specially designed to control and
configure the BGAN XL Radio Module.
Chapter 9, RF & RF control interface, describes the behaviour of the RF interfaces and
specifies the associated RF control interface which specially design to provide the
integrator with the required information of the RF interfaces.
